Anti-Corruption Pledge

In 2024, over $16 billion will be spent on the presidential election alone, with dark money influencing all levels of government.

To achieve real change, we need candidates free from the corruption of special interests—like polluters, Big Pharma, and Big Ag—who undermine their commitments to constituents.

All members must take an anti-corruption pledge and vote directly on issues and candidates.

Candidates must also commit to the Top 5 priorities of our members in their districts and take the same Anti-corruption pledge.

Failure to uphold these commitments or accepting conflicting funds will result in disqualification from future nominations, with loss of data, volunteers, and ballot access.

There must be clear consequences for corruption, with both positive and negative incentives.

Changing Incentives from Bad to Good

A little-known issue with third parties is that their leadership often relies on petition companies that pay per signature, which creates perverse incentives. For example, they earn 3x to 10x more by avoiding party affiliations or by preventing their own party from staying on the ballot, resulting in tens of millions in wasted or misused funds.

One notable third party spent hundreds of millions over five years but only qualified in two states —states they could have easily accessed for free in a much shorter time (We The People has more state parties already).

This highlights the problems of NDAs in reform groups, where vendors and kickbacks are common, consuming over 80% of some campaign budgets. By prioritizing signatures and engaging in costly lawsuits (signatures leave open legal challenge windows), they undermine their own efforts.

These dynamics exploit the duopoly’s incentives for profit at the expense of genuine reform. To counter this, we commit to transparent budgeting at both national and state party levels, ensuring full budgets are available online to prevent co-option of our leadership.

Reversing the Brain Drain of New and Good Leaders

We often lose talented individuals to DC due to better pay and quality of life. While we are anti-corruption, but we are also pro-career and support career development within third-party politics.

Working with independents often offers only sporadic pay, creating financial instability that drives good people away and incentivizes corruption. This allows bad causes to thrive while undermining our efforts.

To succeed, we need a strong, well-funded leadership in every state. Our strategy involves setting aside 25 cents of every dollar to build a fund that supports a minimal national team of experts, enhancing all campaigns for free.

By fostering a network of independent thinkers at local, state, and national levels, we can create an ethical ecosystem where professionals thrive while improving the country.

Our fund, combined with a database of the Top 5 issues in each area, will provide essential data to reinvest in our people and reduce reliance on donations. Ultimately, our goal is to become self-sustaining and able to support candidates anywhere without outside funding.
